As the years have passed and hand-held technology has continued to evolve, the smartphone battle has gotten intense. Apple’s iPhone 8 (X), Google’s Pixel 2, and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 are all trying to break the wheel while generating hype across the internet. So who will take the phone throne during this year’s releases? While there’s still a lot of rumored features that have yet to be officially announced, these three contenders aren’t holding back. Here’s the rundown.
Google’s Pixel 2 & 2 XL
The first Pixel took the internet by storm with endless raving reviews, and converted a big chunk of iPhone diehards into Android fans. So, it goes without saying that Pixel 2 & 2 XL must surpass Pixel groupies’ expectations.
The new Pixel phones, according to Mashable, are rumored to be released Oct. 5 and will be built by HTC and LG with competitive features. The phones are rumored to have 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage all while using Snapdragon 836. Recent leak uncovered by The Verge is that Google Assistant may be activated with it’s stylish new squeezable frame “Active Edge.”
Galaxy Note 8
Even after a year, people still remember the accidental fires caused by the Galaxy Note 7 and remain cautious, but potentially forgiving. At the launch event for Galaxy Note 8, Samsung attempted to cover up the Galaxy Note 7 PR catastrophe of last year’s flaming batteries with a video showcasing loyal users holding onto hope for the new model.
With a release date of Sept. 15, Samsung is gearing up to make a strong comeback. The most notable features released are the dual camera, a 6.3 inch curved screen with more square corners, and a Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. In addition to two 12 megapixel cameras, the Verge stated that Samsung claims an industry first with both sensors to offer optical image stabilization.
It’s been ten years since the first iPhone took over the world in 2007 which means the early September release better be groundbreaking. Or so we hope. The unconfirmed rumors are piling up with no comments from Apple, but there are some concrete features to expect.
As metallic mavens, the classic gold, blush gold, and silver colors are expected to be iPhone X options along with black. According to Metro.co.uk, the anniversary edition will have an OLED display that uses less power and provides a higher contrast. iPhone users should get ready to part with the home button and unlocking ID touch, but say hello to facial recognition. Goodbye, passwords!
People use their smartphones for almost everything even building quick one-page websites with tools like our very own Prologue. Whether it’s a big screen with enhanced display quality, processor speed, battery life (preferably not flammable), more storage, or a professional-like camera for your selfies, it’s going to be a difficult decision between these three smartphones.
