Are you a domain investor looking to expand your .TV portfolio? Maybe you’re just looking to make the jump into video without spending thousands of dollars on your domain. Either way, you deserve the best prices and Name.com is happy to help!
We’ve recently started offering premium .TV domains to our customers, and we’re proud to say that Name.com currently has the lowest prices on most of these domains. That’s right folks, check out how we compare:
We want our customers to get the best names at the lowest prices while still providing the great tools and service that Name.com is known for. So if you’re in the market for a .TV, we hope you’ll think of us — your pocketbook will thank you.
VeriSign recently announced a re-launch of all premium .TV domains with drastically reduced pricing, and Name.com is happy to announce that we can offer these premium domains to our customers! Premium .TV domains can now be registered for as little as a few hundred dollars for the first year and standard renewal pricing after that. The best part is that Name.com is able to offer most of these names at prices lower than our competitors.
We’re big fans of the .TV extension and we’re excited to see the market opened up to more people. It’s a great move for the .TV community and we look forward to seeing it grow.
Name.com is also offering regular .TV registrations for just $19.99 for a limited time! So whether you’re looking to invest or just start your own video blog, Name.com can help. If you have any questions about .TV don’t hesitate to give us a shout.
Verisign has recently reported that TLD registrations are closing in on the 200 million mark. There’s no denying it — this number is huge. It can also be intimidating for the average consumer to hear this. With 200 million domain names registered there can’t possibly be any good ones left. Wrong.
Just about every day we spend listening on Twitter we hear people say how surprised they are at how many good domain names are still available. You just have to start being creative. If you’re not necessarily the creative type, there are tools out there to help you. Take our Domain Suggestion Tool for example. You can type in a set of keywords and not only get related suggestions back, but also suggestions based on popular Google keyword searches. Trust me, you can spend hours using this tool and coming across great names that you weren’t even thinking of, I certainly have.
Another thing to consider is the increasing popularity of alternative extensions and ccTLDs. While sprouticus.com may not be available (something I’ve pouted about for years), sproutic.us is and that’s almost as good, at least in my case. Nowadays more and more people are starting to do the same. For instance, check out Claim.io and Flavors.me, two recently launched services that are embracing alternative extensions.
Some other great extensions that are starting to become really popular are .MOBI and .TV. If you’re looking to cater specifically to mobile devices, a .MOBI domain is the way to go. If you’re doing video at all, .TV is perfect — just check out Name.com’s very own Beer Fridays! Now these are just a few examples, but there are a whole slew of extensions that you can choose from to suit either your personal or business needs. It’s not just about .COM and .NET anymore.
So the moral of the story is not to get discouraged that there are a bazillion domain names being registered out there. There’s still some good names to be found, and great names are dropping all the time. You just have to know where to look.
Want to get your business noticed in a region that holds 60% of the world’s population? Your very own .ASIA domain is a great way to do just that. The Asia-Pacific region is incredibly diverse and it is currently experiencing enormous economic and technological growth. Now is your chance to establish a regional presence and identity to help grow your business!
For a limited time, Name.com is offering .ASIA domains at a steal for just $6.99! No promo code is required, but (and this is important) your company must have at least one domain contact who is a legal entity in this region. We have more details on the .ASIA domain here and you can find out more about the legal entity requirement on ICANN’s website here.
So don’t get lost in the heat of the moment and register your .ASIA today!
Heard of .TEL? It’s pretty darn cool. It’s a low cost TLD that acts as a digital business card — a single point of contact that allows people to access all of your contact information on an easy to manage website. The best part is no hosting costs are required, everything is included in the cost of the domain, which Name.com happens to sell for just $9.99 $8.99!
Our friends from .TEL, Justin and Henri, were at Macworld to show off their two impressive (and open source!) iPhone apps that allow you to manage your .TEL domains and all of your .TEL contacts easily and quickly directly from your phone. My.TEL (app store link) is the domain management tool and Superbook (app store link) is the contact management tool. It’s pretty awesome to see how fast Superbook loads this information (even using the less than stellar 3G network in San Francisco), which is due to their clever use of DNS to transmit the data.
Check out this video to see just how fast the apps are and how easy it is to manage your sites.
Here at Name.com we’re big fans of .TEL and we take pride in the fact that we are the leading .TEL registrar. In addition to having the best prices, we offer extra management tools for your .TEL domain that you can’t find at any other registrar. Since .TEL can act also as a directory, Name.com allows you to add new accounts to your domain without giving them access to your main account, and that’s just one of the cool things you can do.
To take advantage of the $8.99 price, use the code MACWORLD when you checkout. We’ll be running that promo until the end of the month, so check it out and be sure to TEL us what you think. 😉
Looking to snatch up an expiring domain? We’ve got you covered.
Domain Nabber is Name.com‘s beta service for back ordering domains, and at just $18.95 we try to provide the best and most affordable service we can. If you’d like to know a little bit more about Domain Nabber we have some details here.
Recently we just added support for .CC and .TV domains and we’re excited to say we’ll be adding even more in the near future. Now, it costs a bit more to nab .CC and .TV domains due to the higher costs of these domains, but we’ve done our best to keep the prices affordable.
As always, we’d love to hear your feedback — if there’s anything you’d like to see in Domain Nabber please feel free to post your suggestions in the comments. It is in beta after all. 🙂
Day three started off with another session of PITCHfest where Rapid Domain Builder ended up taking home the award this time. They were up against DevRich, Skinected, and Root Orange — who walked away with the People’s Choice Award, congratulations guys!
After another lovely lunch outside it was time for the Moniker Premium Live Auction. The auction lasted four hours and generated over $920,000 in sales — the big sellers being LoanCalculator.com for $215,000 and GolfLessons.com for $65,000.
Now that the business day was over it was time for the real fun to begin.
Before heading off to the Playboy Mansion for the DomainSponsor party, we stopped off at the Huntley Hotel for an awesome (and much needed) girl party — a tradition we hope to continue at future events. To quote Kate (missfaucher), women in the domain industry..who knew?!
After a little champagne to get us warmed up it was time for the highlight event of the conference. We hopped on a fleet of buses and headed to the Playboy Mansion for an extravagant party and fundraiser benefiting Jenny McCarthy’s Generation Rescue Foundation. With close to 200 models hired for the night, it was quite the experience.
All in all DOMAINfest 2010 was an impressive event that has us very excited about all of the cool things happening in the industry. It also presented us with some excellent networking opportunities. We look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces when we head to New Orleans in just a week and a half for Domainer Mardi Gras.
The second day at DOMAINfest was a blast. We were very excited about the Keynote from Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com. Here at Name.com we share a lot of the same philosophies on company culture and using good customer service to help build your brand. It was an amazing keynote and so much of what Tony had to say really resonated with us, it was very inspiring. Below is a brief excerpt of his keynote (please excuse my camera repositioning at the beginning).
After a lovely lunch outside (yay for no rain) we sat in on a couple of interesting sessions on Turning Killer Domain Names Into Killer Websites and How Prime Internet Real Estate Builds SEO and SEM Success, but I must say the highlight of my afternoon was the massage I got courtesy of Elephant Traffic. Thanks guys. 🙂
In the evening they moved us all to The Getty Center for a dinner party and we had so much fun. It’s such a beautiful building and the views of Los Angeles are spectacular, not to mention the art itself. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for day three.
The first day of DOMAINfest was exhausting, but super fun. We kicked off the day by visiting the exhibition tent and checking out all of the booths. Our favorite booth was probably The Water School, an organization that is working to provide clean drinking water to communities in need. If you haven’t heard of them, you should definitely check them out. Awesome stuff.
After that we hopped over to the PITCHfest session where four companies presented new ideas on domain monetization. Verisign, Elephant Traffic, AdMarketplace, and Tempesta Media presented to a panel of judges that included such distinguished names as Frank Schilling, Adam Rioux, Eric Liaw, and Ron Sheridan. Later in the day the honor was awarded to Adam Epstein of AdMarketplace.
Following lunch Jeff Kupietzky, CEO and President of Oversee.net, gave his Opening Remarks speech — an interesting overview of the state of the domain industry. Below is a brief excerpt of his speech.
The last session of the day was a panel on the new gTLDs that ICANN is planning to roll out this year. A topic that most everyone seems to have mixed feelings about. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how this develops in the coming months.
We ended our first day at DOMAINfest with the swanky demand MEDIA party at the Huntley Hotel.
All in all it was a great, but very busy, first day.
We’re excited to announce that on Tuesday, February 9th our sister companies DomainSite.com and Name.net will have a brand new look! We will be upgrading the entire environment of these two sites to match Name.com.
What does this mean for Name.com customers? Well…not much. 😉
But for customers on DomainSite.com and Name.net, this means significant upgrades to the domain management tools and options, as well as a slew of other features to help improve the overall experience. The really exciting thing is this is just the first step in a series of upgrades, so there are more cool things to come!
We realize that big changes mean a lot of questions — we encourage you to post any questions, concerns, or feedback in the comments and we will do our best to help you through this transition.
