We were at SXSW Interactive last week and, yes, we’ll admit we’re still recovering. The festival has grown so much that it’s a little overwhelming to try and keep up, but we managed to find our fair share of great panels, parties, and people. Here’s a little video we threw together with the footage we got when we actually remembered to use our camera. 🙂
We had a great response to our Name.com Loves Small Business contest and we thank everyone who participated!
The second round of weekly winners are:
And the 25 winners who get copies of Crush It! and Trust Agents are:
If you didn’t win this time, don’t worry, we’ll be having more fun contests in the future. Keep an eye on this blog or our Twitter profile for updates!
Want to get your business noticed in a region that holds 60% of the world’s population? Your very own .ASIA domain is a great way to do just that. Now is your chance to establish a regional presence and identity to help grow your business!
For a limited time, Name.com is offering .ASIA domains at a steal for just $6.99! We have more details on the .ASIA domain here and you can find out more about the legal entity requirement on ICANN’s website here.
So don’t get lost in the heat of the moment and register your .ASIA today!
We got a new batch of stickers recently and we’d love to share them with our community. If you’d like to show off your Name.com support on your laptop, netbook, water bottle, or forehead you can find instructions on how to obtain a few stickers for you and your friends on the Name.com Schwag Page.
We’d like to give a shout out to StickerGiant, an awesome local company, for doing a bang up job on these stickers. Thanks guys!
That’s right, one of the original and most recognizable TLDs turns 25 this month and Name.com is celebrating with $8.25 .COM/.NET registrations with the code “MARCH825“.
Already have your COMs and NETs covered?
Give your site an extra personal touch and use that same code to register yourself a .ME for only $8.25!
Either way, cheers from Name.com and here’s to another 25 years.
Since we ordered a bunch of copies of Crush It! for our Name.com Loves Small Business contest, Gary Vaynerchuk himself was kind enough to put together a personalized video about the importance of domain names in regards to your brand. We’re huge fans of Gary and his book here at Name.com and we’ll admit, we geeked out a little when we watched this video. Awesome stuff.
We’re excited to announce the weekly winners for the first two weeks of our Name.com Loves Small Business contest!
100% Aviaci’f3n Colombiana is a Colombian Aviation website that is dedicated to everything about aviation in Colombia: news, history, articles, photo gallery, forums and more! (twitter.com/pablo_andres)
ITSSRI Technologies has been in the development business for quite some time with projects ranging from web and software development to GIS projects for the national parks and forest departments in India. (twitter.com/itssri)
Now some of our winners are still in development on their websites, so we can’t post them here just yet, but you can check them out on Twitter.
Huge thanks to everyone that has participated so far! You can enter your business in our contest until the end of the month. We’ll be announcing more weekly winners next week and then at the beginning of next month we’ll pick the 25 winners for the Crush It/Trust Agents prize packs. Until then, cheers!
Heard of .TEL? It’s pretty darn cool. It’s a low cost TLD that acts as a digital business card — a single point of contact that allows people to access all of your contact information on an easy to manage website. The best part is no hosting costs are required, everything is included in the cost of the domain, which Name.com happens to sell for just $9.99 $8.99!
Our friends from .TEL, Justin and Henri, were at Macworld to show off their two impressive (and open source!) iPhone apps that allow you to manage your .TEL domains and all of your .TEL contacts easily and quickly directly from your phone. My.TEL (app store link) is the domain management tool and Superbook (app store link) is the contact management tool. It’s pretty awesome to see how fast Superbook loads this information (even using the less than stellar 3G network in San Francisco), which is due to their clever use of DNS to transmit the data.
Check out this video to see just how fast the apps are and how easy it is to manage your sites.
Here at Name.com we’re big fans of .TEL and we take pride in the fact that we are the leading .TEL registrar. In addition to having the best prices, we offer extra management tools for your .TEL domain that you can’t find at any other registrar. Since .TEL can act also as a directory, Name.com allows you to add new accounts to your domain without giving them access to your main account, and that’s just one of the cool things you can do.
To take advantage of the $8.99 price, use the code MACWORLD when you checkout. We’ll be running that promo until the end of the month, so check it out and be sure to TEL us what you think. 😉
With such a thriving tech community in the Denver/Boulder area, it was no surprise that PodCamp Boulder 2 was pure awesome. Especially since it was organized by Jeremy Tanner (Penguin), if you’re not following him…you should be.
What is a PodCamp you ask?
It’s a very laid back, usually free, UnConference where social media enthusiasts and professionals get together to talk about various topics. It’s definitely not limited to just podcasting, so the name can be a tad misleading.
I sat in on some great sessions that ranged from International Social Media to Storytelling to Event Planning on a Shoestring Budget. It’s refreshing to sit in a room full of amazing people and openly discuss the various challenges we all seem to be facing in regards to social media. Whether it’s figuring out how to present your content to an international audience or what the best collaboration tools are for your company, the fact that we’re getting together as a community and talking through these issues is really something special.
While a good domain is certainly an integral part in setting up your website, there are so many other factors (SEO, design, etiquette, etc) that go into making it an awesome website. PodCamps are a great way to help you figure out some best practices on how you can show people that awesomeness. If you’re interested in checking out a PodCamp in your area, there is a list of upcoming UnConferences here.
Cheers and happy PodCamping!
