And the winner is...

After almost three weeks, our unintentionally epic ping pong tournament came to a nail biting end as Sky defeated Owen in three games. Judging by the comments on our last post, most people had their money on either Matt or Owen, leaving Sky an opening to sneak in and take the title of Ping Pong King of Name.com!

Of course, now this just means some of us will be stepping up our game to get ready for the next tournament and Sky will have his work cut out for him if he wants to hang on to that trophy. 😉

You can see the results from each round here.

Name.com Sponsoring WordCamp Boulder!

We love participating in the local tech scene, and we’re excited to announce that we will be a sponsor at this year’s WordCamp Boulder! This year the conference is moving from Denver to Boulder and into the historic Boulder Theater. The speaker list and schedule are already up and it’s looking like it’s going to be a great day for WordPress fans!

We’re really looking forward to the event and a couple of our team members will be attending and joining in on the fun. If you run into us, we’ll have some Name.com goodies on hand to give out. Cheers and happy blogging!

Name.com Ping Pong Tournament!

Ping pong yo

Every so often we like to indulge in a little friendly competition amongst the Name.com team, and we thought it was high time for another ping pong tournament! We’ve posted the bracket for round one over on our site and we’ll be updating it along the way.

Want to join in the fun? Post your pick for the winner in the comments and whoever guesses right will get one of our awesome new pint glasses! Don’t be fooled by our pictures though, some of us aren’t as tough (or goofy) as we may seem. 😉

Update: Just to clarify, you just have to pick the winner for the entire tournament, not each matchup. 🙂

Headed to GeoDomain Expo!

Our bags are packed (okay maybe not yet) and we’re headed off to the big easy for three jazz-filled days of domains and networking! Geodomains are nothing new, but like anything “location-based” these days, they are starting to gain more mainstream popularity. If you’re a small business, this presents a great opportunity to geo-target your customers. If you’re a domainer, there is ample opportunity to build out and monetize a geodomain.

We’ll admit, we’ve been excited about geodomains for some time now. If you haven’t checked it out already, our Geodomain search tool is a pretty nifty project we’ve been working on. But shameless plugs aside, we’re really excited for the sessions and networking events that Associated Cities have lined up for this year’s GeoDomain Expo. If you’re going to be in New Orleans this week and you want to meet up, give us a shout! We’d love to meet you.

We’d like to give a shout out to StickerGiant, an awesome local company, for doing a bang up job on these stickers. Thanks guys!

See what’s happening behind the scenes at name.com!

Hi everyone! After being on board with Name.com for just three weeks, I can honestly say that I work with an awesome group of people. The energy, creativity, and enthusiasm that I see from our team on a daily basis is inspiring. That being said, I can’t help but share a little bit of the awesomeness with you.

Now you can keep up with the shenanigans going on behind the scenes here at Name.com by following some of our company accounts:

And there will probably even be a few more to come (yes, we love social media!).

If silliness, beer, and ping pong aren’t your cup of tea — you can always follow our official company account on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook to keep up with the latest official news. Either way, don’t be a stranger. 🙂
