So we hate to say it, but here at the Name.com office health is not always our forte. Our kitchen is regularly stocked with M&Ms, potato chips, and sodas, and we end Fridays by drinking a beer or two from the kegerator. But our Office Manager Kristen challenged us to take one week to step up our exercise game, learn about living a healthy life, and choose carrots over cookies.
Even though we started out a little rough…
…we managed to pull it together
The main event for Health Week was a walking/running contest that took place between the Denver, Kirkland, and Dublin offices. Over the past week, we used apps like Pacer, Runkeeper and Apple Health to keep track of the number of miles all of our employees walked or ran during the day. While the other offices consistently had the employees with the highest miles (14 miles in one day? Holy moley!), our girl Amy M. managed to claim a victory for us and redeemed the whole office (Thanks Amy).
As a bonus, we were also encouraged to send photos of our furry friends on their daily walks. And let me tell you, having puppy pictures sent to your inbox every day is great for the heart and soul.
Later in the week there was a holistic health class, nutrition myth busting, massages, and group yoga keep us motivated and even teach us a new trick or two.
Needless to say, Health Week is the start of something new. After this we might even ditch the unhealthy food for good and maintain a diet of celery and protein powder.
…or maybe not.
