 "DOGDAYS"

Use that for $10.25 .COM & .NET registration and renewals. Also, .ME owners get a big break. Use promo code DOGDAYS for $16.99 .ME first-year renewals. Now you can pick up your next great idea and own it on the web for less, and as always, all our domains, websites and hosting are backed by the world's greatest customer support!

So why are they called "dog days?" Well the hottest days of summer are referred to the "dog days" because of the rise of Sirius, the "Dog Star."  It's the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major. And, oh sweet jeezu...while reading Wikipedia we found that the Romans used to actually sacrifice a brown dog in July to appease Sirius, which they attributed to the hotter weather.

YOU NEED NOT SACRIFICE A THING...just save some sweet money on your next domain name purchase with name.com.

    Now Siriously!
    The imaginative science behind Dogdays

During wintertime nights, we easily can see Orion, and Orion’s hunting dog Canis (latin for “dog”). The very bright star that is the eye of Canis is Sirius (the dog star), which happens to be the brightest star in our sky. Ancient arab astronomers noticed that during summertime days, the Sun is positioned almost directly in front of Sirius. People in those days imagined a sort of solar multiplier effect-- the overlapping of the hot sun with the brightest star in the sky was thought of as the cause of the hot days of summer.
I learned this from a park ranger's talk at Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.

Love the Sand Dunes! And that we now have both Roman and Arabian history of Dog Days covered.

Seriously, are you guys kidding me? You call $10.25 for .com/.net domain registration sweet money savings? Unless you guys reissue a new reasonable promo code, I can guarantee name.com domain registration revenue will decline this month. $10.25 for renewal is reasonable, but not for 1st time registration!
