Hackathon finals recap: Everyone’s a winner

Remember last month when we participated in an all-company Hackathon and came up with tons of awesome product, service, and process improvement ideas? Five of those lucky teams were selected to compete at the Rightside office in a final, winner-takes-all round—and one of them came from Name.com!

Remember last month when we participated in an all-company Hackathon and came up with tons of awesome product, service, and process improvement ideas? Five of those lucky teams were selected to compete at the Rightside office in a final, winner-takes-all round—and one of them came from Name.com!

So earlier this week, we headed up to Kirkland, Wash. to scope out the other teams and present our ideas all in one place. Competing teams shared their ideas on everything from a consumer-facing website that focused on New Domain education to an administrator tool that would make customer service easier. Although the competition was fierce, the team from Austin walked away victorious as this year’s Hackathon champions. (But they’re awesome and we adore them so we’re not too sad that we lost.)

There were so many innovative and interesting projects that were brought to the table and it was amazing to see how much work the teams did in such a short amount of time. And better yet? You’ll likely get to reap the benefits of these projects in the upcoming months! Some of the ideas are already being built out and put into motion.

Our trip to Kirkland was a wonderful experience, and a great reminder that this is what the technology industry is all about—embracing new ideas and putting them in action to create creative solutions.

Oh, and Nick Salvadore found a drill bit in his tzatziki sauce which was a first for us all.
