6 reasons every small business needs website content
Our friends at Textbroker were kind enough to share some insight with us about why great content is essential for a great website. If you’re a small or medium-sized business, a freelancer, or just have a personal website, learn why fresh content is one of the most powerful tools you have for bringing in new clients or viewers.
According to Statistic Brain Research Institute, only half of small businesses have websites. When asked the reason for not building a site, 41 percent of site-less brands claimed it wasn’t a priority. Out of the companies that had published a site, nearly half confessed that no updates had ever been made since its inception. Although rumor has it that creating or actively maintaining an online presence isn’t necessary, companies with top-notch content have the ability to reach the 97—yes 97—percent of consumers who state they search online for products and services. Still skeptical? Here are a few reasons new, high-quality website content is just what your business needs, as well as guidance on how to produce it.
Root for Denver this weekend, because it means big domain discounts on Monday
In honor of Sunday’s game (which is of course exclusively called The Big Game, and nothing else), we’re having a big domain sale. But the sale depends on the outcome.
We’re rooting for our hometown team, so if Denver wins, you can use the promo code CHAMPS get some huge discounts on a big list of domain extensions, including $0.99 .ROCKS, .SOCIAL, and .NINJA. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. MST on Monday and end at midnight.
Check out our Embarrassing .FAMILY Photo contest winners!
We had an amazing (and hilarious) turnout for our Embarrassing .FAMILY Photo contest, held in honor of the launch of the .FAMILY domain extension. Although the competition was fierce, three winners stole the show.
Contestants had to track down an embarrassing, awkward, or just plain strange photo of their family and come up with a .FAMILY domain idea that went along with the photograph. The results were as cringeworthy as they were inspiring.
Without further adieu, we present our Embarrassing .FAMILY Photo winners.

Calling all NGOs—your domain name is waiting!
Our friends at the Public Interest Registry (PIR)—who are most commonly known for bringing you the .ORG domain space—have unveiled two more relevant domains for Non-Governmental Organizations. In this post, they explain how .NGO and .ONG can be used and how you can secure these domains for your own website.

We’re celebrating another successful hackathon
We’ve got another Name.com hackathon under our belts! Last week we took a break from our typical workweek to focus on innovative projects of our choice over a three-day span. Employees in every department had the opportunity to collaborate on a project to make Name.com better.
The theme of this year’s hackathon was Back to Basics. Employees were challenged to look at our products, services, and processes with fresh eyes and come up with solutions and ideas for a better business. After throwing around some project ideas on Wednesday morning, the Name.com crew chose the top five ideas and spent the remainder of the week turning those concepts into a reality.
