This time of year is a good reminder that your family is, well, a little colorful. But rather than letting it remind you of your embarrassing childhood or the cringeworthy hairstyle you rocked back in 5th grade, now is the time to embrace your family and all of their quirks.
Enter our Embarrassing .FAMILY Photo contest, in honor of .FAMILY’s upcoming release, and you could win a GoPro HERO+, an Amazon Echo, subscriptions to Ancestry.com, and more!
Want to enter? Here’s what you need to do
To enter this contest, you’ll need to head to embarrassingfamily.photo and submit your most mortifying, cringe-worthy photo of your family along with a .FAMILY domain suggestion that ties in with it. Submit that family photo circa 1998 where you all wore matching Christmas sweaters hand-knitted by grandma. Or, just gather up your family and stage your own embarrassing photo—as long as it’s funny and family-oriented, we want to see it!
The very official judging criteria
Our top entries will have one week to duke it out on the Name.com Facebook page to get the most likes. The three photos with the most likes at the end of the general voting period will then be reviewed by our Name.com judges to determine our first, second, and third place winners.
The judging criteria will be 25% humor, 25% originality, 12.5% daring but not dangerous, 12.5% for great hair, 2% for actually getting everyone looking in the general direction of the camera, and 23% for it’s overall wince-worthiness.
Our awesome prizes
Come on, we all know this is what you’re most interested in! Our top three entries will win the following (pretty amazing) prizes.
1st place: A GoPro HERO+, a 6 month World Explorer membership from Ancestry.com, a free .FAMILY domain, and one free year of Google Apps.
2nd place: An Amazon Echo, a 6 month U.S. Discovery membership from Ancestry.com, a free .FAMILY domain, and one free year of Google Apps.
3rd place: A family game night package, a DNA kit from Ancestry.com, a free .FAMILY domain, and one free year of Google Apps.
