Are you ready to upgrade your WordPress website to a better, more efficient hosting plan? Keep your existing content while enjoying the convenience of the WordPress CMS when you migrate your website to Name.com website hosting.

Save your WordPress content

The All-in-One WP Migration Tool is a free WordPress plugin that offers the quickest and easiest way to export and import your existing content. Start by installing the plugin on your existing WordPress site. Once the plugin has been enabled, it will appear as a menu item on the left-hand side of your screen. Hover over the plugin name and select the Export option from the slideout menu.

From here, you can fiddle with the find and replace tool and advanced settings options if need be (not recommended unless you know what you’re doing), then click the Export button at the bottom of the page. Save the file, which will use a .wpress file type, and you’ll be ready to move onto the next step.

Set up hosting

Now it’s time to purchase and set up website hosting. There are a variety of hosting plans, all of which serve different purposes, so make sure you choose a plan that best suits your individual needs. Once it has been purchased, follow the guided prompts to finish setting up your hosting plan. At this time you’ll also be given the option to install apps—so scroll around until you find WordPress and allow it to install on your new website.

Make the switch

Now that your WordPress content has been saved and your hosting plan is freshly set up with WordPress installed, it is time to put the puzzle pieces together. Go back to the trusty All-in-One WP Migration Tool and install it once more on your new WordPress site. This time, choose Import from the options menu. Remember that .wpress file you saved earlier? Drag and drop it into the import box to begin transferring your old files onto the new platform.

Once the file has been successfully installed, you’ll be prompted to update the permalinks of your old pages and blog posts. Keep in mind that when you log in to make those changes you should use your old login information rather than your new one. It’s also important to note that your files may not transfer over perfectly if you are switching from one WordPress template to another.

Enjoy the convenience of WordPress on a hosting plan that you can depend on. Choose a website hosting plan that works best for you to get started.
