Canceled/failed domain transfers

You were so excited to transfer your domain name to, but either the incoming transfer failed, or you changed your mind. No problem! Here are the steps you can take to initiate the transfer again or to get your transfer fee back. 

If the incoming transfer failed, and you did not cancel it, we recommend contacting the losing registrar to determine why the transfer failed.

When an incoming transfer fails, the transfer fee is refunded as an account credit. This is so that if you wish to re-start the transfer, you can do so instantly without waiting the 3-5 business days that a full refund can sometimes take. If you don't want to reinitiate the transfer, you can use the account credit towards another purchase or renewal. 

If you don't want to use the account credit and would like a refund back to the original payment method, just send us an email to from the administrative email address on your account, and we will be happy to assist. 

Note: Refunds back to the original payment method can take up to several weeks.

You can reinitiate the transfer by following these steps:

1. Log into your account and click My Account on the top right.
2. Click Transfers in Progress under the My Domains column.

3. Click Start a new transfer, and use the account credit to pay for the transfer once more.


How to cancel an incoming transfer

You can cancel your incoming transfer from within your account by following these steps:

1. Log into your account and click My Account on the top right.
2. Click Transfers in Progress under the My Domains column.
3. Select Cancel from the pulldown menu that will appear under the Status column, and then click Update.

The transfer fee will be refunded as account credit.
