- Incoming Transfers - transferring a domain name to Name.com
- Outgoing Transfers - transferring a domain name away from Name.com

How do I transfer a domain name to Name.com?
You can initiate and pay for an incoming transfer from within your Name.com account. More information here....
How much does an incoming transfer cost?
For incoming transfers, the cost will be specific to the domain name extension. Review our pricing page for transfer, renewal, and registration prices. The pricing page is for generic pricing and does not include Premium Domain names.
Is the renewal of the domain included with the transfer?
In most cases, when you transfer a domain name to Name.com it adds one year to the expiration date of the domain name. However, if you renewed the domain name within 45 days of the transfer, then an additional year will not be added. More information here...
I started my transfer! Where is my domain name?
You will not see the transferred domain name under My Domains within your account until the transfer is complete. During the transfer process, you can check on the status of your transfer from the Transfers in Progress page. To navigate there, follow these steps:
- Log into your Name.com account
- From the top menu, click the My Account tab, and select Transfers in progress
The incoming transfer failed/canceled, where is my refund?
When an incoming transfer fails, the transfer fee is refunded as account credit. This is so that if you wish to restart the transfer, you can do so instantly without waiting the 3-5 business days that a full refund can sometimes take. If you don't want to reinitiate the transfer, you can use the account credit towards another purchase or renewal. More information here...
How do I transfer a domain name away from Name.com?
You will first need to perform three steps with the domain name in your Name.com account, then you can initiate the transfer with the gaining registrar. More information here...
How much does an outgoing transfer cost?
Transferring a domain name away from Name.com does not cost any fee. However, there is usually a transfer fee on the gaining registrar end. You will need to contact the gaining registrar to pay for and initiate the transfer.
How do I unlock my domain? Why won't my domain unlock?
You can unlock the domain name from within your Name.com account. Remember, per ICANN regulations you must have the domain at least 60 days before you can transfer it to another registrar. More information here...
Where do I find the authorization/EPP code?
You can find the auth code from within your Name.com account. If the domain is not eligible to transfer, the auth code will not display. More information here...
How long does an outgoing transfer take?
I transferred the domain, why is it still showing up in my account?
After the outgoing transfer is complete, it might look like the domain is still in your Name.com account for up to a week. This is only a ghost image and nothing to worry about. These can occur due to a process that verifies that the outgoing transfer was successful before the domain name is removed. You will not be able manage the domain in your Name.com account during this time. More information here...
How do I internally transfer a domain name to another Name.com account?
You will need to access the account the domain name is in, as well as have the account code of the account you are transferring the domain name to. More information here...
How much does an internal transfer cost?
Internal transfers are free of charge.
Where do I find the account code?
The account code can be found on the domain dashboard from within the account.
- Log in to your Name.com account.
- Click My Account and click My Dashboard.
- The account code is below the Username on the top right of the page.
How long does an internal transfer take?
Internal transfers are instantaneous. Click refresh in your account to see the domain appear. The owner of the domain will receive an email once the domain has been transferred.
I received an error message when trying to internally transfer my domain?
You cannot internally transfer your domain name until 5 days after registration/recent transfer. This is an anti-fraud measure that we cannot bypass. Also, ensure you have the correct account code. More information here...
