Troubleshooting .CA registration problems

Last Updated: Jan 11, 2022

Some registries have special requirements for the registration of domain names, including the .CA registry. If a .CA domain name registration is failing, please check the following:

  • The registry requires there to be a space in the middle of the postal code.
  • The contacts for the account have to have a real person’s name listed, so things like a company name split between the first/last name field will fail.
  • If registering as a Canadian Corporation, you must use the exact legal name or the order will fail. Usually, it is best to register as a Canadian Citizen to bypass the issue.

If it continues to fail, please contact support and we are happy to look into it further.
