Adding Whois Privacy

Whois Privacy is a core service included in our Domain Safe product. At name.com, every eligible domain you register now comes with free Domain Safe automatically—this includes privacy, SSL, and essential security locks.

If you are looking for advanced defense, you can upgrade to Domain Safe Pro, which includes everything in the free tier plus proactive monitoring, Dynamic DNS, and secure HTTPS redirects.

What is Whois?

Whenever a domain name is registered, ICANN requires the registrar to publish valid contact details associated with the domain name. These contact details are publicly available in a Whois index.

Understandably, not everyone is comfortable having their contact information public, and there are risks associated with leaving those details exposed. We highly recommend keeping Whois Privacy protection enabled on your domain name to stop spam and scraping at the source.

How to manage your Domain Safe settings

To manage your privacy protection and security settings through our Domain Safe product, please follow these simple steps:

1. Log into your name.com account.
2. From the top menu, click the My Domains link to the top right of the navigation.
3. Here you will find a list of all the domains in your account. Locate the domain name you would like to manage and click the Get Whois Privacy link (or "Domain Safe" link) in the Security column.
4. If you are upgrading to Domain Safe Pro, the product will be added to your cart; you can proceed to checkout by clicking the In Cart button or by clicking on the Cart.

Note: Not all TLDs allow the use of Whois Privacy due to registry-level rules. See the full list of TLDs that do not support Whois Privacy. For these domains, other Domain Safe features like SSL and Domain Lock Plus still apply.
