Approve or expedite a domain transfer

Last Updated: November 11, 2023

Once submitted, a transfer can take about 5-7 days to complete. You can expedite the transfer so the domain name transfers within a matter of hours instead of days by following these steps. For domains transferring into Name.com, you can check the status of your transfer in your account to make sure it isn’t stuck and then ask your registrar to push the transfer. For domains transferring out, you can contact our support team!

How to expedite incoming transfers

If you are transferring a domain name to Name.com, you can view the status of your transfer from within your account by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Name.com account.
  2. Click on the User icon (user-icon.png), located at the top right, open the drop-down menu and click Account. Go to Account Tools and then select Transfers In Progress.

If the status is Transfer Submitted, your transfer is progressing smoothly and the domain will automatically be transferred to your account in 5-7 days. To expedite the transfer, you will need to contact the losing registrar and ask them to approve the transfer. We can’t expedite incoming transfers.

Note: If the status is something else, review all incoming transfer statuses to determine what is needed for the transfer to be submitted.

Expedite Outgoing Transfers

If you are transferring your domain name away from Name.com, we can approve the transfer for you so it completes after a few hours rather than several days.

We can only expedite the transfer after the transfer has started. Once the transfer has been submitted, you will see Your Domain is Pending Transfer on the domain management page in your account:

If you meet certain requirements, the “transfer now” button will appear, and you can click it to expedite the transfer. If the button does not appear, please follow the steps below.

Please fill out our support form while logged into your account and request that we approve the transfer. We will respond as soon as we have manually approved the transfer -- after which, the domain should appear at its destination within a few hours

If you do not contact us, the transfer will finish on its own and may take the full 5-7 days to complete

Note: It can take a few hours after we approve the transfer for the domain name(s) to appear in the account of the new registrar. We thank you for your patience.

After your domain has completed transfer, you may still see it in your Name.com account! This does not mean the domain has not transferred. Please click on the domain name, and it will show you if the domain has transferred away or not. This is a ghost image of your domain-- left so you can check the status on that transfer. It will fall off of your domain list automatically within a few days.
