Portland Startup Week | Pizza, tech royalty, and Waldo

We’re back from a great week in Portland, where we challenged social media users to find Waldo, hosted another epic Hack the Dot, and spent time with tons of inspiring startup owners. Here’s a quick recap.

We’re back from a great week in Portland, where we challenged social media users to find Waldo, hosted another epic Hack the Dot, and spent time with tons of inspiring startup owners. Here’s a quick recap.

Tweets for pizza

Portland is known for 154 days of precipitation per year, and sadly, a rainy deluge put a damper of many of our planned outdoor activities. Even so, we made the most of our time in the city with some impromptu activities, such as a “Tweets for pizza” buyout at Trifecta Annex Pizzeria. We shared free pizza and free domains with a hungry crowd and met some cool people in the process.

Where’s Waldo?

After that, we challenged our social media followers to find the elusive Waldo so they could be gifted with piles of Name.com swag. We live streamed part of the fun on our Periscope channel, so you can check out the fun for yourself. Also:

Hack the Dot

We teamed up with Vacasa for a Portland Startup Week edition of Hack the Dot, where participants built out unique, funny projects based on the domain PDX.games. The projects were so good that we couldn’t even choose our favorite team—meaning everyone was a winner.

Beer buyout

Drinks were on us during Portland Startup Week’s Beer and Blog event at the legendary taphouse, Loyal Legion. It’s the place where PDX tech royalty gather to say hello and share their ideas. This is an event we’ve participated in for several years now, and we’re excited to continue the tradition.
