Transferring domains to Name.com just got better

We’re improving our transfer process once again so that our new users can enjoy more first-year perks than ever.

New domain transfers to Name.com now include a free year of Advanced Security for every eligible domain. The product bundles Whois Privacy, Domain Lock Plus, and a free basic SSL certificate into a simple package that is easy to maintain and adjust according to your needs.

This perk will now be offered along with the additional year that your registration term is extended by, so you won’t pay a renewal fee until a year after you transfer your domain. And with .COM transfer prices currently at $8.25, .and .NET and .ORG at $10.99, you’ll get a whole lot of bang for your buck.

How can I transfer to Name.com?

Before you can transfer a domain, you need to make sure at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain, in accordance with ICANN policy. You’ll also need to make sure your domain is unlocked at your current registrar. As long as those two criteria can be met, you’re good to begin the transfer process.

While transfers may be slightly different depending on which registrar you are transferring from, the process should be similar to this:

  1. Get the authorization or EPP code from the current registrar for the domain(s) you want to transfer. This should be available somewhere on your domain details page.
  2. Navigate to our domain transfer page and put the domain name and associated codes into the field (if you have several domains to transfer at once, you can do so by toggling to the Bulk Transfer form).
  3. Your transfer(s) will be added to your shopping cart where you can go through the checkout process like normal.
  4. Once the transaction is complete, the transfer process will begin, which can take 5-7 days to complete. If you would like to speed up the process, contact the registrar that you are transferring AWAY from and they should be able to expedite the transfer for you.
