Managing preordered domains

Last Updated: December 31, 2025

When you preorder a domain name, the wait for it to become available can be the most difficult part of the process. Fortunately, you can track the status of your preorders directly from your account dashboard.

How to find the preorder management page

Follow these steps to access your active and pending preorders:

  1. Log into your name.com account.

  2. Click on the User icon, located at the top right of the navigation bar.

  3. From the dropdown menu, click Account.

  4. Scroll down to the Account Tools section and click the Preorders button.

Understanding your preorder dashboard

Once you are on the management page, you will see a list of your preorders with the following key information:

  • Order Type: Indicates if the preorder is for a new TLD launch or a "dropping" domain.

  • Current Status: Shows where the domain is in the registration cycle (e.g., Pending, Processing, or Failed).

  • Drop Date: The date the domain is expected to be released by the registry and attempted for registration.

Using your watchlist

The Preorder Management Page also displays your Watchlist. This feature allows you to monitor specific domain names or new extensions you are interested in without committing to a purchase immediately. You will receive updates on these domains as their status changes or as they approach their launch dates.

Important notes on preorders

  • No Guarantee: A preorder is a request for name.com to attempt to register the domain on your behalf the moment it becomes available. Because domains are first-come, first-served, a preorder does not guarantee you will successfully acquire the name.

  • Payment: Ensure your default payment method is up to date, as successful preorders are processed automatically.
